About Jim

Democrat Jim Gennaro, a former Queens College professor and 25-year veteran of New York City government, is running for State Senate to help make Albany more responsive to New Yorkers' day-to-day needs.  As a resident of Jamaica Estates with his wife and young daughter, Jim Gennaro understands the issues that matter to families in Northeast Queens, like overdevelopment, quality of life, the cost of living, public safety, education and health care.
 
As Chairman of the New York City Council Environmental Protection Committee, Jim Gennaro has become the state's leading "green" legislator, writing dozens of laws that are making New York City an international model for saving our planet and its precious resources.  Now, Jim Gennaro is trying to bring that same leadership and creativity to the State Senate, where the potential to improve our everyday lives is limitless.
